Chania City – Elafonissi

Two famous sites in one excursion: Pink sand beach and crystalline turquoise water, City with Venetian and Ottoman buildings.

On this excursion we will visit one of the most beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean Sea and the most beautiful city of Crete.

Elafonissi is an exotic place, a real paradise with turquoise, crystalline, shallow waters and with several white and pink sandy beaches, which take their color by the tiny crushed shells. It is a rectangle which is very often separated into two parts by the sea, giving the impression of an island. Near this separation point, the waters do not exceed one meter, forming a small lagoon, ideal also for children. You can easily cross the lagoon to reach this island.

Elafonissi is protected by the European “Natura 2000” programme and is awarded as one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe. We stay there for three hours and we can enjoy a swim, a sunbath, a stroll on the wonderful pink beaches, the dunes or the unique cedar forest.

We stop at a traditional tavern in a cool place under the shade of tall trees and next to a little river, where you can have a delicious meal at a very reasonable price (not included in the price of the excursion).

Chania has retained traditional architecture and most of its monuments of Venetian and Ottoman times as well. We will have two hours of free time to take a walk, go shopping, stroll through the narrow streets of the old town and visit the Venetian port.

During our journey, we will cross several small traditional villages, gorges, a small tunnel, olive fields, sycamores maples, carob trees, chestnut trees and beautiful landscapes.
